A happy 4th!

I agree that it is fitting that our metroblog begins on the weekend we celebrate the birth of our country. One of the things I love about this city is the history that is here from the beginning of … well… the country in which we live.

Tonight’s festivities will be BBQing with friends on the roofdeck and then we’ll watch the fireworks from atop Peter’s Hill in the Arnold Arbouretum. Me? I stay far away from the craziness on the esplanade on the 4th. Too crowded for me.. but I do love a good fireworks show.

Tomorrow is a day off.. and I’ve been craving some water action. We’ll be hitting up Charles River Canoe and Kayak for some canoe paddling on the Charles. Such a fun summertime thing to do. Paddle along, Boston skyline, familiar Harvard red brick buildings. I highly recommend it.

Enjoy the 4th!

I very much agree about the canoe and kayaking – it’s also super affordable and easy to do. A very underrated Boston thing, IMHO.

I totally agree.. you can choose how long you want to stay out and you can stay as close as you want if you are a beginner.. but it is a great way to just be on the water and enjoy the day.. bring a gourmet picnic even!
