Beaches
Thinking about the lovely ocean beaches we have around Boston – especially in Cape Ann and Cape Cod. My favorite is in Gloucester, but if you aren’t a resident it now costs $25 bucks to get in for the day. The only way you can really make it affordable is if you grab all your friends and cram into your car like clowns. “Where’s Joe?” “He’s in the trunk!”
So, what are your favorite beaches? We are so close to the ocean, we should really all experience it as much as we can during the short summer we get here.
Oh, and apropos of nothing, Happy Birthday to my dad! He doesn’t have a ton to do with info for the masses, but if it wasn’t for him, I would never have wound up in JP, or Boston for that matter. So, thanks, Dad!
I think Horseneck Beach is pretty decent, and parking is like $7 a day. Totally affordable. A lot of the beaches on the Cape, like in Falmouth, are like $20 a day for parking if you’re not a resident, too. I hate the snobbery laws in Mass. with regards to beaches.
It’s worse on the Vineyard, where about half the beaches you need to have a resident sticker, and there’s no kind of visitor pass. So snobby. So lame. I guess the hoity-toity people in Chilmark (where Jackie O’s house is) don’t want us common folk destroying the beaches with our common, dirty feet!
My favorite has always been Crane Beach. Happy Birthday, Emily’s Dad!
