Wrinkled, Tart, and Contentious
According to the Boston Business Journal, Massachusetts-based Ocean Spray is being sued by Amazin’ Raisins International for infringing on their patented cranberry-wrinkling process. I’ve always been a fan of Ocean Spray — despite a distaste for the little berries themselves. It’s a successful farmer’s cooperative and refreshingly (ahem) independent. Just a couple of months ago, the growers rejected overtures from bevererage juggernaut Pepsi. Hopefully the case will be thrown out on the grounds that no company called “amazin'” anything should be taken seriously. I take that back. Amazin’ Glazin’ is a serious concern — as is Amazin’ Walter. But Amazin’ Raisins International, that’s just silly.
Are they serious? patented cranberry wrinkle technique? That is insane.
That’s it! I’m patenting my special bathtub wrinkling process.. and expand it to the swimming pool wrinkling process. I’ll make a fortune!
