It’s great to see publishers taking the next step in online content. Boston.com’s “Sound Check” section is a multimedia experience and gives the reader much more than a few paragraphs on a band. An “Audio Slideshow” that acts like a sort of webumentary (did I just coin a phrase?… doubt it) and a “Video Presentation” helps you get a good feel of the featured band combined with the more traditional web offerings (text story, mp3’s and a forum) really tell the story.

The feature highlights Averi; a local band from the Merrimac Valley. Recently voted in the Globe’s Top 10 bands to watch and the Phoenix Best Band of Boston, Averi is on the verge of taking off. Listen to their songs on their site, because the Boston.com mp3s are pretty low quality.
