Time for the All Star Break

I’m back from Seattle and a hectic start to my summer. Wedding planning is going along nicely, if I do say so myself.

I was in Detroit not that long ago – the home of this year’s All Star Game. What can I say about Detroit? It made me miss Boston, that’s for sure. I stayed at the Detroit Marriot at the Renaissance Center I barely left. I did take one nice long walk, but I thought I was in the Bronx, so I went back to the safety of the hotel. My trip started poorly – I had hosted a party the night before, and was … a little inebriated. When I got to my hotel, I realized that I had packed my business attire, but I had forgotten to pack nice shoes! Thankfully there was a store in the Marriot’s mall that allowed me to stay there without venturing into Detroit proper.

Back to Boston. Even after a fairly abysmal showing in the last week or so, the Sox are 2 games up on the Orioles and 2.5 up on the Yankees. We have 5 players at the All Star Game, and we have to admit, things are looking pretty good.

What will happen after the break? Four home games against the Yankees, followed by three home games versus Tampa Bay. Then the Sox are off to see the White Sox who are on fire. It will be an interesting summer, that’s for sure.

Seeing A-Rod greet and then hang out with Johnny Damon for the entire game may be up there for strangest thing I’ve seen this week. As a random request of the Boston Metrobloggers from an NYC Metroblogger, I’ll be up in your lovely city for a week on business. Any suggestions on how to spend my off-time? The touristy stuff I’ve hit in past trips. Also…how many appendages can I expect to still have possesion of if I wear my Yankee jersey to the game at Fenway on Sunday?

    Hey John Boy,

What do you want to see? What are you looking for? I’m assuming your visits to Boston have included the North End, the Back Bay, Beacon Hill and Fanueil Hall. Maybe other folks can chime in, but, if you’re looking for bars to hang out in, I can definately help you out!
