The Boston Bruins will open their 81st National Hockey League season hosting the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, October 5, it was announced today by Bruins President Harry Sinden. The 2005-06 National Hockey League schedule has a new format this season, emphasizing Division rivalries. The League will break from February 12-28 while NHL players participate in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, Italy.

How mad are the fans going to be? Are people going to go see the games? I’m a bit torn – I’m a huge hockey fan, but I’m a little peeved about this season, for obvious reasons. It has happened in baseball, and we still seem to go to the games… lets see if hockey can bounce back.
