Boston Bruins Official Web Site : Bruins sign Nick Boynton

The Boston Bruins have agreed to terms with defenseman Nick Boynton to a one-year contract, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O’Connell. Boynton was the team’s final unsigned Group II (restricted) free agent and, in keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Some MLB consolation

Major League Baseball : 2005 Postseason Game Wrapup

There is some consolation in the Red Sox’s abysmal appearance in this year’s MLB playoffs - the Yankees didn’t make it to the ALCS either.

Interestingly, this all might be good - for me at least. Remember trying to work last October? Remember the late nights watching nail-biting baseball? Water cooler conversation about so-and-so’s pitching or the chances of us making a comeback? No worries, we can all be productive office workers!

At 3-2, the Patriots are having a tough time, and the Bruins are also coming into their own at 2-2.

The rains and dismal weather are surely a sign that Summer is over. Football and hockey, combined with chilly nights remind us that the Fall ain’t a bad time to be in Boston, don’t ‘cha think?

Scratching and Clawing

Boston Red Sox : The Official Site

Well, we made it to the postseason. It’s going to be an interesting October, don’t ya think?

The weather is definately screaming fall … so much gardening to do. So much baseball to watch, and the Bruins start their season tonight.

How can I be expected to work on a day like today?

Education, Law Finesse

I was compulsively browsing the ‘net a few minutes ago when I came across this:

Romney’s proposal [...] calls for spending $54 million to equip about a half million students — every Massachusetts student in the sixth through 12th grades — with a low-budget laptop. His plan, unveiled last week, depends on the availability of a laptop costing about $100, similar to one being developed by MIT.

My questions: with schools without money to run being taken over by the state, where would this hypothetical $54 million go, if we were to put it to saving the schools? What do the tests say about education benefits, and how does it affect handwriting?
