24 Hour Town?

This article is about early club (and other event) closings in Boston during the convention. The comment that got me was the woman saying “we’re used to a 24 hour town”. We are? Where does she live?? I am used to being kicked out of places at 1AM and being told “you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here!”

I don’t stay late enough to close places as much these days, but I agree with you, Emily. Boston is definitely not the city that never sleeps. As Elizabeth Hardwick wrote:
“In Boston the night comes down with an incredibly heavy, small-town finality. The cows come home; the chickens go to roost; the meadow is dark.”
