Ealier, Meghan mentioned the exit from hell, Newton Corner. Been there, done that, it sucks. Well, my biggest whine about the Pike these days is right around that area too. Actually, its the WHOLE section between the Cambridge exit and the 95/128 exit. Right now, this section is under construction. It seems like they are possibly adding an extra lane on each side, but who knows.
Well, the problem right now is because of this, they have shifted all the lanes over. That in itself is not a problem. The problem is that to take the old lines off the road, they seemingly decided to scrape the lines and the first layer of pavement off the road. Well, now it is next to impossible to drive this section in traffic. If you try to avoid the scraped up areas, you end up drifting in to the lane next to you. If you drive over the scraped up area, you not only do all sorts of damage to your suspension, but also you tend to almost get thrown in to the next lane when the scrapes turn.
All in all, not a fun area to drive at all. I’m just waiting for a NASTY accident in that area between the super thin lanes and the scraped up road.
