4 pounds of onion!

Went to the Haymarket on Saturday, as it was such a gorgeous day and I hadn’t been in about six years or so. Every time I go, I’m always amazed. I kept exclaiming, all weekend, “Four pounds of onion for a dollar! Not four onions! Four pounds!
For fun, I went to Stop n’Shop afterwards to compare prices. Goddamn. Everything was about 3 to 4 times as expensive at S&S. I know they mark up the prices because of many factors – shipping the fruit, paying employees, keeping the food fresh, etc. – but I think it’s worth my time to go the market every Sat. morning.

Oh, I didn’t actually buy 4 pounds of onion – I bought 2 pounds, which is 5 onions. I use a lot of onions and they keep for awhile, so I figured why not. But 5 onions for 50 cents? Madness!
