Kids these days
There’s an interesting article in The Boston Globe today about kids who ‘multi-task’ while doing their homework. Seems as if someone did a study which shows that kids will play video games, watch TV, listen to the radio, etc. while doing their homework. Hell, I did that too, and I turned out … OK, maybe I’m not a good example.
There’s an interesting line from the article which is just wrong:
‘My mom says I need to get a job watching TV for a living because that’s all I’m good at,” says the 14-year-old. ”I never read, unless it’s for school.””
I thought kids were reading more these days. Didn’t Harry Potter start a new revolution of kids wanting to read? Or is there an entire demographic of kids who are too old for Mr. Potter and too young for Jeffrey Eugenides?
I’m going to play Halo 2 and think about that for a while…
