The Fight Over Wireless – Will we get Internet access from big government or big business? By Adam L. Penenberg

Boston Wi-Fi Meetup November 9

The Boston Wi-Fi Meetup Group –

Wednesday, November 9, 2005, 7:00 PM
This is United Wi-Fi Meetup Day

Between Hours
154 Harvard Avenue
Allston, MA 02134

To get to Between Hours, take the Green Line’s “B” Train to the
corner of Comm Ave and Harvard Ave. Walk down Harvard Ave so that McDonalds is on your right and Marty’s is on your left. Between Hours is a couple blocks ahead on your right. The internet cafe has wi-fi.

Kind of interesting, we lost power in Hyde Park, so I’m at a Starbucks in West Roxbury working (and blogging) away! What would we do without Wi-Fi? Certainly would make telecommuting harder to do!

Removing Tree Limbs / Weather

Could this day be any more beautiful? I’ve already removed a number of tree limbs from the roof, and the power is flickering. Joy.

I love New England, I really do, but this weather is starting to kill me. I’m happy we have the bulbs planted (and I’m happy we didn’t water them) but I would really like to be able to enjoy a beautiful fall day, instead of freezing my butt off in the house all day.

Maybe I’ll just find someplace that has wireless access, like a Starbucks, and sit there for the remainder of the day while I call and e-mail people.

There’s a lot of information about this storm on

I hope we have enough candles in the house! What are you doing to prepare for this noreaster?

Does anyone know of a good kitty vet in Boston? Or even better, a vet who makes house calls? My cat is licking off his own fur WHICH IS CHARMING and he absolutely hates the vet. Hates!

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most appreciative.

Jail Bird

A man sentenced to 30 years in prison has asked an Oklahoma County DA to extend his sentence by three years in “honor” of Larry Bird’s #33. Officials said they’ve never seen a prisoner ask for more time in jail, but they were more than happy to accommodate the convicted felon.

Should we talk about the weather?

Local Weather Forecast for Boston, MA –

Ah, the joys of a sunless week! No wonder I haven’t gotten around to planting all those bulbs I ordered. How do you cope with the dreary grey weather? I’m hoping we see some sun soon, Fall is my favorite time of the year in Boston, and it goes away much too soon. Time to get back to work!

Sushi Reviews. The Globe has two new sushi restaurants reviewed today – I had the pleasure of going to Seiyo not too long ago, and it was fantastic. Wine shop on one side, Sushi restaurant on the other. The decor is great, and the service was excellent. I almost don’t want them to get their liquor license, just so picking out and buying the wine continues to be this much fun.
