St Patrick’s Day

The drunkest day in Boston falls on a Saturday this year which means the event will see even more beer flowing than normal. What are you planning on doing? Seeing the Dropkick Murphy’s? Finding a nice Irish pub to drink some Guinness in? (Yes, I said Guinness, that is an Irish drink, not green dye put in Bud Light). Something else? Me? I will be headed to over to the TD Banknorth Garden for the final game of the Hockey East Championship. May hit a bar afterwards, but that is the big plan for the day :) So, let us know how you will be celebrating.

Rock n Roll This Weekend

Two great original bands playing this weekend around town.

Tonight (Friday), you have Electric Sugar at the Basement of the Baseball Tavern with the All Mod Cons and the Illegals. It’s at 1306 Boylston St. Electric Sugar is a hard rock/heavy metal outfit from Boston and are sure to provide a good time.

Tomorrow (Saturday), The Mudhens reunite for a reunion show at Harper’s Ferry in Allston Rock City. If you have been hanging around the Boston music scene long enough you already should know who these guys are :) From what I have heard tickets are going fast, so get yours today! I have heard great things about the opening band, Scamper, so get there early!

Have a great weekend!

Original Rock @ Hennessy’s Upstairs

Recently, Hennessy’s on Union Street in Fanueil Hall has started up having original bands play in the upstairs room on Thursday nights. Over the last few weeks they have had bands such as Stained Glass Eye, Electric Sugar, and many others. This week they have a load of good bands including one of my favorites, Sunset is a Battle. This week’s schedule (Feb 22) is:

Doors open at 8:30
Sunset Is A Battle 9:00
Watts 9:50
The Cheater Pint 10:40
Superlow 11:30

Check the room out on MySpace for all the upcoming bands!

Cheap Potter

The Coolidge is showing all the Harry Potter films this week at 3 bucks per film.

Dave Eggers + Valentino Achak Deng …

… are coming to Harvard Yard’s Memorial Church February 26th to discuss What is the What. The event starts at 6:30. I remember hating the acoustics last time I was there. Hopefully things will be different.
